Frequently Asked Questions
- (Q) What are demand charges and how much per kWh will you charge me for them?
- (A) The formula your TDSP uses to establish your demand are a little complicated but basically demand meters register the highest rate of electrical flow (or current) during a billing period. Demand charges are charged by your local TDSP and are passed through to Texas Power. We pass these charges through to you as a separate line item on your monthly bill. If you complete a Letter of Authorization, we can obtain your particular demand from your TDSP and calculate these charges for you. You should know that there may be other TDSP charges that are not included in your demand charges.

- (Q) There is no meter at the location, how long can it take to get my service on?
- (A) Texas Power does not do service work in the field, nor do we have any technicians. Your order will be completed in the timeframe given by your local TDSP. This is generally anywhere between 7-10 business days but is always at the discretion of the TDSP.

- (Q) Why do I need a permit?
- (A) Your TDSP is required by your particular city ordinance to have a copy of your permit on file before they can begin service. If we submit an order to activate your service and a permit is not on file with the TDSP, your service order can be delayed and possibly cancelled. You should call your city permit office and have an inspection done and a permit issued.

- (Q) How will I be billed for my service?
- (A) You will receive a monthly invoice for the electricity you used for the period from your beginning read date to the next meter read date. The dates of your meter reads are established by your TDSP. We will send you a bill that has two line items. One will be for the energy charges from Texas Power and one will be for your TDSP charges.
