Texas Power Makes It to the National Stage

Arlington, (May 15, 2008) After making regional prime time appearances with ads during the Super Bowl and American Idol, Texas Power is now gaining national attention.  On the May 12th episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, a print ad for Texas power was displayed during Mr. Leno’s Headline News segment; taking a look at odd advertising.  The ad shows how to hold a series of baseball pitches and one focused on a hand with six fingers as a joke for the person reading it.

This appearance marks the sign of further growth for the up-start Texas electricity provider.  When talking about the mention of Texas Power on a highly national program, Larry Kelly, the C.O.O. of Texas Power, commented, “That was pretty cool.  We were on national television!  How did a little Texas electricity company make national television?  We made the choice early on to create an in-house marketing and advertising department.  Our team is outstanding and incredibly creative and we are grateful for their dedication, not to mention the money we save not paying an agency fee. “

The ad with the “Slick Palm Ball” photo showing a hand with six fingers was born in a weekly Texas Power marketing and advertising brainstorm session.  Rona Davis, Director of Marketing and Advertising for Texas Power quotes, “What started out as a spark has now spread into national attention with our mention on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.  We were brainstorming a print ad campaign for our new sponsorship with the Frisco RoughRiders.  The extra finger was the ingenious idea of our Art Director, Lance Brown.”  The whole team took it and ran with it.  Our hope was that a few fans might notice the oddity and elbow their neighbor to show them so people would buzz about it around the stadium.  Little did we know that it would land on Jay Leno’s famous desk!”

Since the inception of the Texas electricity deregulated market, Texas electricity providers have attempted to set themselves apart from the competition through advertising, marketing and public relations.  This appearance on the Tonight Show marks Texas Power’s arrival into the field of play with the big incumbents and is a sign of the future for Texas Power.
